Review

Crimson Moon combines Souls-inspired melee combat with a run-based structure that is less interested in making players repeat identical sections after every failure. Gildenarch changes between missions, while successful runs unlock new missions, modifiers, equipment, and character options.
Combat is deliberately aggressive. The Nephilim can combine weapons, supernatural powers, melee abilities, and angelic transformations, while temporary upgrades provide explosive advantages during individual missions. Boss encounters against the Dead Gods are positioned as the major tests of each build.
There are no traditional character classes. Progression instead comes from assembling a build around weapons and abilities, giving players more freedom to change direction without restarting with a different archetype. Higher difficulty settings increase both the challenge and available rewards.
Between missions, the Church acts as a refuge where players interact with NPCs, improve their character, and plan future operations through the War Table. That structure gives the campaign a clear division between preparation and the more violent excursions into Gildenarch.
Two-player online co-op is integrated into the same journey rather than separated into a dedicated mode. That should make experimenting with complementary builds more useful, although balancing bosses for both solo and cooperative play will be difficult.
The run structure is also a potential dividing point for players expecting a continuous traditional action RPG campaign.
Verdict: A fast gothic action RPG with flexible builds, vicious melee combat, and co-op that gives its replayable mission structure more room for experimentation.
