Big Walk releases on August 4, 2026, for PC, macOS, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by House House and published by Panic, this cooperative adventure sends groups of two to 12 players into a large handcrafted landscape built around walking, talking, puzzles, and improvised communication. Proximity voice chat, walkie-talkies, gestures, binoculars, laser pointers, megaphones, flares, whiteboards, and stranger objects help friends stay together when distance, walls, or deliberate silence make normal conversation difficult.

Big Walk understands that cooperative games do not always need combat, progression trees, or constant objectives to hold a group’s attention. Its main activity is simply travelling through a large open landscape with friends, finding routes, solving challenges, and dealing with the small problems created by distance and poor communication.

Proximity voice chat is central to the design. Voices become quieter across open ground, echo through enclosed spaces, disappear behind walls, and distort through walkie-talkies. Players separated during a puzzle may need to describe landmarks, transmit instructions, or rely on gestures when speech is unavailable.

The collection of tools creates opportunities for both cooperation and harmless disruption. Binoculars and laser pointers can identify distant routes, flares help separated players reconnect, and whiteboards may communicate information that cannot be spoken. The same objects can also be stolen, thrown away, or used to distract everyone from the actual task.

Its flexible group size changes the experience considerably. Two players can approach puzzles carefully, while a 12-person group is likely to create confusion through overlapping conversations and competing ideas. The handcrafted campaign still has an ending, giving the journey more structure than a completely open social sandbox.

Big Walk depends heavily on having the right group. Solo play is not supported, and quiet or poorly coordinated sessions may lose much of the intended charm.

Verdict: A warm and inventive cooperative adventure that turns conversation, distance, and playful interference into its most important mechanics.
