Absolum hits a sweet spot between crisp inputs and run‑to‑run variety. Neutral feels clean. Jab strings pop, aerials carry risk, and a well‑timed counter cracks armor without turning you into a parry bot. Rooms are short problems. You kite a brute into a hazard, pin archers with a dash, then cash out with a special that lands because you held it. Co‑op reads well too. Two players can juggle lanes instead of tripping over each other, and revives buy drama without slowing the pace.
The roguelite bits respect your time. Unlocks widen options more than raw numbers. A new move changes routes, a relic tilts your build just enough, and shrines push risk for reward without bullying you into min‑maxing. Presentation leans bold and readable. Thick animation, strong silhouettes, a soundtrack that swings between heroic and mean.
There are caveats. Early balance will wobble, and some relic synergies may trivialize certain bosses until patches land. Controller play is the way to go, and keyboard inputs can feel cramped unless you remap. Even with the bumps, the core rhythm is strong. You see an opening, take it, and the room snaps into focus.
