Review

ZeroSpace is trying to solve a problem RTS games have wrestled with for years: how to feel strategic without feeling dry. Its answer is to put story and RPG pressure around the usual army control. You are not just expanding a base and clearing a map. You are managing heroes, crew relationships, faction politics, and the kind of campaign choices that can make a mission feel personal instead of procedural.
The best idea here is flexibility. Four main factions and multiple mercenary groups give the game room to become a “my army” machine, where your force is shaped by preference rather than a fixed build order. That matters because modern RTS players want strong identity. A unit roster should not just be balanced, it should feel like a style of thinking.
The campaign structure also gives ZeroSpace a real hook. Story missions, loyalty missions, side arcs, and interactive dialogue suggest a game that wants to be played for more than ladder optimization. If those systems feed back into combat in meaningful ways, the single-player side could feel unusually rich for the genre.
Two caveats stand out. First, hybrid design can become bloated if every system asks for attention at once. Second, the high PC requirements hint at a game that needs strong optimization before RTS fans with mid-range hardware can fully trust it.
Verdict: A hugely ambitious RTS/RPG hybrid with the right ingredients for a memorable campaign, as long as its systems stay readable and its performance holds up.
