Review

Everwind is chasing a specific kind of survival fantasy: not “build a cabin and never leave,” but “build a ship and keep going.” The flying island-ship idea is the hook that makes the usual resource grind feel purposeful. Your base isn’t just storage. It’s the thing you’re improving so you can push farther, carry more, and reach new spaces that would be off-limits otherwise.
In first-person, the game wants the world to feel close. You’re up in the air, but you’re not floating through menus. You’re handling the work, gathering, crafting, and taking fights that can turn ugly if you show up underprepared. Co-op should be the natural fit here. Splitting jobs, building together, and turning the ship into a shared project is the kind of loop that makes survival games stick.
Two caveats are worth keeping in mind. One is pacing: survival RPGs can drag if progression doesn’t keep introducing new tools and new problems. The other is balance: if combat is too easy, the sky feels like a theme park; too punishing, and exploration becomes a chore.
Still, the premise is strong and the airborne base concept gives Everwind a clear identity.
Verdict: A survival RPG with a great central hook, a flying base that makes progression feel like movement, not just accumulation.
