Review

Last Epoch is about commitment to a build and the joy of breaking it. Every active skill has its own tree, so your Lightning Blast isn’t my Lightning Blast. Early hours are readable, then the Monolith opens and the loot treadmill starts to hum. Crafting is deterministic enough to feel fair, and legendary potential gives endgame drops a second life.
Combat reads clean. Animations hit fast, telegraphs stay sharp, and you can build glassy or tanky without the UI turning to mush. The campaign moves quickly, with side skirmishes giving your gear time to breathe before echoes take over. Performance has improved since 1.0, though heavy ground effects can still nibble at frames.
Caveats: stash bloat becomes real if you hoard every shard, and min‑maxing wants a third‑party planner. Multiplayer is stable but desyncs appear under load. Still, the core loop works. Pick a skill, reshape it, then rebuild when a drop changes your plan.
Verdict: smart, crunchy ARPG that rewards tinkering.
