Euro Truck Simulator 2 released on October 18, 2012 for PC (Windows), later expanding to macOS and Linux. Developed and published by SCS Software. You start with a small job and a bigger dream, hauling across a condensed Europe while building a company one delivery at a time. The loop is simple and sticky: plan a route, mind fatigue, keep cargo clean, and watch kilometers turn into cash. Trucks are the stars, from stock workhorses to tuned rigs with lights and bars. Optional Convoy multiplayer lets friends share runs and chat while the tachograph ticks.

Review

Euro Truck Simulator 2 works because the road has a rhythm. Acceleration, lane changes, and quiet radio tracks blur into a calm headspace that still asks for attention. Miss a turn and you feel it in your pocket. Nail a tight reverse into a yard and you grin even if nobody saw it. The economy gives purpose without busywork. Small freight leads to better contracts, garages, and a fleet that earns while you sleep. That progress turns long hauls into goals instead of chores.
The map sells scale. Alps at sunrise, Polish backroads at dusk, a wet motorway that asks for patience. Cities snap into focus just enough to feel distinct. Mod support and a river of DLC keep routes fresh, and World of Trucks events break the routine with community targets. Handling is approachable with a pad, better with a wheel, and fine on keys if you trim assists.
Caveats: AI traffic can be clumsy, and base map areas show their age next to newer DLC. Performance is friendly, yet dense cities and heavy weather can nibble frames on older PCs. None of that breaks the pull. One more rest stop, one more delivery, then you promise to log off after the next border.
Verdict: relaxing, purposeful trucking that turns long roads into small victories.
