Review

Graveyard Keeper 2 expands the original’s cynical management loop rather than simply providing another cemetery. Corpses, plants, minerals, machinery, crafted goods, and increasingly elaborate production chains still feed the economy, but the surrounding town now plays a much larger role.
Automation is central to that progression. Zombie workers can handle repetitive tasks behind the scenes, allowing the player to scale production instead of personally carrying every resource between stations. Better machinery and structured production chains should make a mature operation feel substantially different from its early manual stages.
Town restoration provides another outlet for those resources. Residents need buildings repaired and problems solved, but the game maintains its familiar attitude by encouraging the player to turn community improvement into another source of revenue.
The biggest change is combat. As Grand Inquisitor, the player can build fortifications, craft weapons and armor, equip undead troops, and lead a zombie army against the apocalypse threatening the kingdom. That gives crafting and production a military purpose beyond increasing income.
The sequel still relies heavily on dark humor, grotesque characters, questionable business decisions, and systems deliberately designed to make morally dubious behavior efficient.
The concern is whether combat integrates naturally with the slower management loop. If army battles feel detached from production, the game could end up feeling like two systems competing for attention.
Verdict: A larger and stranger sequel that gives Graveyard Keeper’s automation and resource economy a useful new purpose through town restoration and undead warfare.
