Review

NBA 2K27 continues to split its attention between realistic basketball simulation, competitive online play, card collection, and role-playing progression. On the court, ProPLAY remains the most important technology. Animations captured from real NBA footage help players move and react more naturally, particularly during crossovers, jump shots, defensive contests, and physical drives toward the basket.
MyCAREER again combines a created player with a story-driven path toward NBA success. The City supports social play, Crews, Park games, and REC competition, while MyNBA handles franchise management for players more interested in trades, coaching, contracts, and long-term team building.
MyTEAM mixes NBA and WNBA stars inside collectible fantasy lineups. The mode offers plenty of squad experimentation, but it remains closely connected to card packs, seasonal rewards, and optional spending. The same concern applies to the expensive Deluxe and Ultra editions, which are largely built around Virtual Currency and progression advantages.
Offline support for Play Now, MyNBA, and The W is welcome. Most other modes require an internet connection and an NBA 2K account, making the package heavily dependent on servers.
The core basketball usually delivers excellent animation and presentation, but familiar issues remain possible. Grinding, monetization, input delay, and uneven online matchmaking can overshadow otherwise strong play.
Verdict: A deep and polished basketball platform whose excellent presentation and broad mode selection remain tied to aggressive seasonal monetization.
