The Guild - Europa 1410
The Guild – Europa 1410 enters Early Access on September, 2026 on PC. Developed by Ashborne Games and published by THQ Nordic, it brings the series back toward its original medieval life-sim roots: choose a profession, run a business, build a dynasty, climb the city’s social ladder, and decide whether power comes through honest trade, politics, blackmail, or a little of everything. The hook is not one grand battle, it is the slow pressure of making a name in a living city that remembers what you do.

Review

The Guild – Europa 1410 is most interesting when it treats medieval life as a web of small, selfish decisions. You are not just placing buildings or moving workers around. You are building a public identity, trying to make money, protect your family, and turn social pressure into influence. The fantasy is slow power, and that is exactly where this series has always been at its best.
Business management gives the game its backbone. Choosing a profession, producing goods, selling into a changing economy, and expanding at the right moment should create the practical tension. But the social layer is what can make it memorable. Elections, alliances, family planning, rivalries, and dirty tricks all matter because they make the city feel like more than a market board.
Early Access is a sensible route for a game like this, because balance will be messy. Economic simulations live on tuning. If money comes too easily, strategy evaporates. If progression is too slow, the dynasty fantasy becomes busywork. Multiplayer also raises the stakes. Competing or cooperating with other players can turn a good system into a great story, but only if the rules are clear and exploits are controlled.
The biggest caveat is interface clarity. A game with trade, politics, families, property, and reputation needs clean information flow. If players spend more time fighting menus than plotting, the charm fades fast.
Verdict: A strong return-to-roots pitch for The Guild, with real potential if its economy, politics, and family systems stay readable and tightly tuned through Early Access.
