Review

Sekiro is precise and stubborn in the best way. Fights are about rhythm and nerve, with deflects, mikiri counters, and jump kicks chewing at posture until a clean deathblow lands. Once it clicks, duels feel like conversations. The level design loops back on itself with smart shortcuts and vertical routes that make the grappling hook feel essential rather than gimmick. Boss variety is strong and the combat sandbox stays readable even when the screen is busy.
Caveats are fair. Difficulty is non‑negotiable and the upgrade path is lean, so brute force rarely works. On PC, performance is stable but ultrawide and higher refresh tweaks may need community tools. It’s still one of FromSoftware’s sharpest combat games.
Verdict: tough, elegant, and endlessly replayable once the timing lands.
