Ruby can attack and evade in familiar fashion, but blindly cutting into enemies is rarely enough. Focus lets the player study an opponent, locate its vulnerable point, and prepare a stronger thrust capable of turning the momentum of a fight.

Early moments are spent reading attack patterns and learning when it is safe to enter Focus, while later phases demand cleaner movement and more confident use of the information already gathered. The mechanic works especially well because it rewards patience without making combat passive. Players still need to close the distance and execute the critical strike themselves.
Its pixel-art presentation supports the darker tone with ruined environments, distorted creatures, sharp silhouettes, and restrained effects that keep important attacks visible.
