RetroSpace releases on October 1, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by The Wild Gentlemen and published by Kwalee, this first-person disco-punk immersive sim takes place aboard Aurora 5, a massive human colony station swallowed by a sentient black hole. A nameless janitor becomes humanity’s unlikely survivor while the station jumps between two time periods and fills with mutants, broken security systems, and stranger threats. Stealth, hacking, traps, environmental manipulation, firearms, hidden routes, Mutamod mutations, cloning, equipment recovery, and multiple solutions to each encounter shape the escape from the station.

Review

RetroSpace is built around giving players problems rather than prescribed solutions. An enemy can be avoided, distracted, trapped, attacked directly, or sometimes turned against another threat by manipulating Aurora 5’s interconnected systems.
That flexibility is the foundation of the immersive sim design. Security equipment can become dangerous to both sides, lighting changes how safely the player can move, and alternate routes reward attention to the environment instead of simply following objectives.
Mutamods push the game into stranger territory. Mutations can improve stealth, movement, combat, and exploration, but they can also produce permanent side effects. That makes upgrades more interesting than a conventional skill tree because gaining a powerful ability may alter how the character functions in an unwanted way.
Death is integrated into progression through cloning. A replacement body can continue the journey, but recovering equipment from the previous corpse becomes part of the process, and repeated cloning may introduce additional complications.
Aurora 5’s interconnected structure also gives backtracking purpose. Shortcuts, hidden areas, and time shifts gradually change how previously visited spaces can be approached.
The biggest risk is balance. Immersive sims are strongest when different approaches feel genuinely useful, and one dominant combat or stealth strategy could undermine the freedom.
Verdict: A stylish immersive sim that mixes survival horror, flexible problem solving, mutation systems, and cloning inside a genuinely strange retro-futuristic station.
