Crazy Taxi: World Tour has one job: feel reckless in a way modern open-world driving games often avoid. The old Crazy Taxi was not about clean racing lines. It was about speed, noise, and making ugly routes work because the timer did not care about your dignity. Bringing that energy into a bigger world tour campaign makes sense, especially if each city has its own traffic rhythm, terrain, and shortcut logic.
The campaign hook gives the game a little more shape than the classic arcade format. Axel chasing down the group that stole his cab is silly enough to fit, and it gives SEGA an excuse to move players through different cities without turning the whole thing into a generic map checklist. The best missions should feel like controlled panic: passengers, hazards, side objectives, and one route you swear will work if you hit the corner just right.
Multiplayer is the real wild card. Crazy Taxi always had the energy of a competitive game even when you were alone, so cross-platform modes could be a natural fit. The danger is overcomplication. If multiplayer adds too many rules, it can drown the arcade simplicity. If it keeps the focus on money, time, risk, and ridiculous driving, it could finally make sense.
The caveat is handling. This series lives or dies on feel. The car has to be loose enough to be funny, but precise enough that failure feels like your fault.
Verdict: A strong comeback setup for SEGA’s arcade driving series, with success depending on whether the handling keeps that perfect line between chaos and control.
