Hell Maiden enters Early Access on July 16, 2026, for PC. Developed and published by AstralShift, this horde-survival deck-building game continues Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy after its original ending. Dante awakens in Hell without her memories and must climb back toward Heaven with guidance from Virgil and protection from Beatrice. Each run combines automatic combat, mythical weapons, Spirit Cards, weapon-modifying Mod Cards, rescued poets, boss abilities, quests, and escalating demonic hordes across the Circles of Hell.

Review

Hell Maiden takes the familiar horde-survival structure and gives its upgrade system the flexibility of a deck builder. Dante fights increasingly dense waves of demons while collecting weapons, active abilities, passive bonuses, and status effects. The important decisions come from arranging those tools into a coherent build rather than simply choosing the upgrade with the largest number.
Spirit Cards establish the foundation of a loadout, while Mod Cards alter the behavior of individual weapons. This creates room for combinations built around crowd control, direct damage, status effects, or survivability. Defeated bosses also surrender signature abilities, giving difficult encounters a meaningful reward beyond basic progression.
Rescuing the Poets of Limbo adds another layer to each stage. Figures such as Homer, Ovid, Horace, and Lucan unlock abilities, perks, ultimate attacks, and signature weapons. Their presence also ties the mechanical progression into Dante’s journey instead of leaving the narrative separated from the action.
Combat appears fast and visually busy, but the readable character art and sharply defined effects should help players follow the chaos. Boss battles, quests, and stage-specific challenges also break up the standard rhythm of surviving until a timer expires.
The Early Access release is limited to two Circles of Hell, four poets, four signature weapons, and more than 40 abilities. That is enough to establish the core systems, although variety may become an issue before later circles arrive. Build balance will also need careful tuning as more cards and modifiers are introduced.
Verdict: A stylish horde survivor with a genuinely flexible deck-building layer, though its Early Access launch represents only the beginning of Dante’s journey.
