Never Grave is built around momentum. You are constantly making small tactical choices that add up fast, because the game wants you moving, poking at enemy ranges, and committing to attacks that open space for the next action. It is a roguelike, but it does not feel like a pure numbers grind. The interesting part is how traits and items click together, then nudge you into a different style mid-run. One run might lean on safe spacing and chip damage, the next might reward aggression and mobility.
Exploration gives it a strong sense of place for a run-based game. You pick up tools and abilities, like a double jump, and suddenly older routes open up. The dungeons stay unpredictable thanks to procedural layouts, but the best moments come from finding a clean path through a messy room. Boss fights are the real test.
