Review

Rooted reads like a measured take on post‑apocalyptic survival. The first hours are about shelter and tools: axes, saws, and small generators that push you from campfire to cabin. The midgame loop layers in risk. You scout factories and city blocks for rare parts, weigh backpack space against return routes, and set traps to protect progress. Co‑op helps a lot. Clear roles, proximity chat, and friendly fire rules keep runs tense and stories personal.
The presentation favors clarity over spectacle. UE5 foliage sells the overgrowth without hiding threats, and audio cues do heavy lifting in dense areas. Two caveats. The Steam page lists partial specs and a TBA date, so expectations around performance and scope should stay flexible, and any survival sandbox lives or dies on event variety and base attack logic. If the team keeps the economy tight and keeps adding scenarios, the loop could have legs.
Verdict: grounded survival builder with co‑op that elevates the tension.
