Review

This is a game of preparation and panic. Days are for scrounging, mining, and arguing over base layouts. Nights are for hearing a wall crack two rooms away and sprinting with the wrong ammo. The crafting tree is wide but readable once perks click, and vehicles cut travel time just as the map starts to feel cruel.
Combat lands heavier in 1.0. Limbs pop, sound sells distance, and the better mods turn limp guns into keepers. Building still eats hours in the best way. Traps chain together, electric grids hum, and you finally learn how much concrete a plan really needs. Co‑op adds chaos, since someone always leaves a hatch open.
Caveats: city blocks can drag frames on mid rigs, and spikes of zombie counts push CPUs hard. A new save after big patches is still smart. The loop stays mean but fair. Prep well, pick your fights, and try not to get overconfident on day six.
Verdict: brutal, flexible survival that rewards planning.
