New World: Aeternum
New World: Aeternum released on October 15, 2024 for PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X|S. The original New World launched on September 28, 2021 on PC. Developed and published by Amazon Games. You wash up on Aeternum, a cursed island where steel, sorcery, and factions keep the map in motion. It is a classless action MMO: swap weapons to swap roles, time blocks and dodges, and build trade skills that turn gathering into real progress. War for territory shapes towns and taxes. Dungeons lean on readable mechanics, while open‑world events and seasonal grinds keep you roaming.
Deluxe Edition — what’s included
- New World: Aeternum base game, including all major PC content to date and the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion
- Corrupted Mauler bear mount
- Corrupted Soul armor skin
Review

New World: Aeternum finally feels like the pitch Amazon chased. Combat is weighty and clear. Light, medium, and heavy kits each have a rhythm, and swapping weapons mid‑fight lets you cover gaps without juggling a hotbar. Perfect blocks buy space, dodges matter, and most bosses telegraph enough to reward patience over spam. The best dungeons ask for simple roles and clean comms. Out in the wild, world events drop you into scrappy fights that end with a quick loot sort and the urge for one more.
Territory control gives sessions purpose. Companies set tax rates, craft halls rise or fall with wars, and a small win for your faction turns into cheaper builds the next night. Crafting pulls its weight. Gathering routes feed a loop of refining and upgrades, and the mount system trims the chore without killing scale. Presentation helps, with thick forests, angry ruins, and a score that knows when to sit back.
Caveats: balance swings with patches, and some seasonal checklists lean long. New players can drown in systems until the UI clicks, and big PvP pushes still need stable frames on mid PCs. Yet the core lands. You join a run, win a clean rotate, and a town feels different because you showed up.
Verdict: sturdy action MMO with clear fights and a map that rewards showing up.
