CODE VEIN 2
CODE VEIN 2 releases on January 29–30, 2026 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by Bandai Namco Studios Inc. and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. The setup folds time travel into the post‑apocalypse: Revenants are slipping into Horrors, and you hunt with a partner while a girl named Lou lets you dive into the past to change what broke. Bigger maps, a looser world to roam, and a rebuilt combat and build system push it beyond the first game.

Review

CODE VEIN II tightens the parts that mattered. Strikes snap, dodges read cleaner, and partner AI finally feels like a real build, not a warm body. The new blood‑drain and skill system asks you to commit to a plan, then pivot when a relic or weapon rolls in. You can feel the difference in boss runs. Reads are fair, punish windows make sense, and a greedy heal still gets you slapped.
The world opens up just enough. Routes branch, side paths spit out gear with ideas behind it, and the bike‑friendly layouts break up dungeon fatigue. Time dives do the narrative lifting, giving context to returning faces without drowning you in lore dumps. Presentation helps, from sharper silhouettes to a soundtrack that leans heavy when a fight turns.
Caveats are there. Some animations hold a beat longer than you expect, and a few enemy chains stack stuns if you mistime a roll. Balance will shift post‑launch, and the cosmetic DLC cadence is already on the page. On PC, Denuvo and a third‑party EULA are listed, and specs are still TBD on Steam. Even so, when a build clicks and your partner sets the opening, it lands.
Verdict: sharper combat and broader routes, a cleaner take on anime souls.
