Constance releases on November 24, 2025 for PC (Steam). Developed by btf and published by btf, ByteRockers’ Games, and PARCO GAMES. This is a hand‑drawn 2D metroidvania about an artist fighting through a fragile inner world. A brush becomes a weapon and a movement tool. You dive into paint to slide through walls and floors, chain slices to cross gaps, and unlock techniques that open new routes. The twist: using paint builds corruption, so pushing too hard carries a cost. Biomes map to pieces of Constance’s past, with playable flashbacks filling in the story. Console versions are planned for 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2.

Review
Constance is all about flow. Dashes stitch into brush slashes, then a dive sends you streaking under a platform and up the other side. The best runs feel like drawing a line through the level. Combat stays readable, quick strikes with just enough hit‑stop to sell contact. New techniques layer slowly, which keeps early hours approachable, then the map opens and backtracking turns into light route puzzles.
Presentation does plenty of heavy lifting. The hand‑painted look gives each area a mood, while the journal sketches act as upgrades and little character beats. Music leans quiet until a fight pops, then it gets punchier. It works.
There are caveats. Camera framing tightens in vertical climbs and can hide small hazards. Early enemy sets repeat until a new biome arrives. Pacing dips if you lean too hard on backtracking before a key unlock. On PC, the footprint is light and loads are short, but the recommended specs on Steam are still pending, so tuning may change close to launch. None of it breaks the rhythm. When the brush clicks, the game moves.
Verdict: elegant movement, sharp presentation, a few rough spots, but easy to get lost in.
