Dying Light: The Beast brings Kyle Crane back—13 years after his supposed end. What began as DLC turned into a compact, standalone survival-horror adventure set in the rural, Twin Peaks–like Castor Woods. It lands on September 18, 2025, on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming later in 2025.

This game leans into tension. Kyle is part-human, part-beast—courtesy of zombie DNA and twisted experiments by a villain known only as The Baron. Expect parkour, harsh melee and ranged combat, “Beast Mode” fury, vehicle traversal, and a night-and-day tempo familiar to franchise fans. It’s tighter and darker than its predecessors, with around 20 hours of story plus another 20–30 of extra content.

Review

Dying Light: The Beast doesn’t shy from its roots. Kyle Crane is physically scarred and mentally sharper. His beasts-fueled slams and rippling parkour feel primal. The world is tight and tall—Castor Woods isn’t sprawling, but every ridge, hideout, and ramshackle cabin snaps into focus with intent. You feel the weight in every sprint, swing, and nightfall.

The Beast Mode isn’t just for flash—it gives Crane raw power, letting you punch through foes and hurl wreckage when the undead horde closes in. Daylight gives you breathing room; night brings feral threats that sting. This ebb and flow keeps tension alive.

Some rough edges remain. The world dips into linearity—rationed enemies and a focused map may not satisfy goof-off exploration. The climb mechanics aren’t always intuitive. Still, that minimalism punches harder—your focus stays on survival, not distraction.

Techland trusted the formula and sharpened it. Crane’s fury is under your thumb beside knife scraps and scavenged guns. The game doesn’t scream terror—it whispers it. When things go off-rails at nightfall, you know why you stay ready.

Verdict: A lean, fierce return for Kyle Crane—raw, relentless, and built to remind you why you fear the dark.
